I liked the peice by Jamaica Kincaid a lot. I could tell it was written using quotes from someone who guided her as a young adult, instinct telling me its her mother, but it doesnt have to be. It gives me an impression that she may have not gotten along with the woman all the time, but she respected her a lot.
